“trails, caves, beaches & more!”
Tubbs Hill is a 135 acre, publicly owned, forested peninsula that extends into picturesque Lake Coeur d'Alene. The park features numerous trails, which pass three-story tall caves, beaches, scenic overlooks and side trails which go over the top of the hill. It is an excellent hike for bird watching. Birds commonly sighted on the lake are osprey, common merganser and pied-billed grebe in the summer and bald eagles, hooded mergansers and horned, eared and Western grebes in the winter.
Beautiful area. Many people go here to go cliff jumping, swim, mountain bike, hike, or just hang out by the beach. Very near to downtown Coeur d'Alene where you can grab lunch or ice cream after your adventures!
Go to https://www.cdaid.org/files/Parks/parks/Tubbs%20Hill/TubbsBrochuresmaller.pdf to find the information for the interpretive signs.
Park in the parking lot at the bottom of the hill to get to sign #1 instead of where Roadtrippers has you go.
Beautiful hike, but can be a confusing area. Navigation takes you to Tubbs Rd. Little free library had a few maps inside. Road dead ends and trails can be accessed from this area. On the map we used, Tubbs Rd is labeled as W Pine Ave.
Apparently the actual trailhead is located at 210 S 3rd St. Better info and a map is on the city of Coeur d’Alene website.
If you’re looking to enjoy the spectacular natural scenery that Lake Coeur d’Alene provides, then add Tubbs Hill to your list. Tubbs Hill is a park that’s well known for its amazing views of the lake, and its awesome hiking trails.
Located in downtown Coeur d’Alene, the park is a 165-acre natural peninsula filled with beauty. Take a hike on the 2-mile loop trail. Considered an easy hike, this trail takes you to some of the most picturesque spots in the city.
This is also a great place to visit if you’re hoping to see bald eagles!
We think a visit here is one of the best things to do in Coeur d'Alene!
