“one of Philadelphia’s five original public squares laid out by William Penn”
One of Philadelphia’s five original squares, Franklin Square is Center City's favorite playtime oasis. Centered around its beautiful fountain, Franklin Square also features the Parx Liberty Carousel, the one-of-a-kind Philly Mini Golf course, and the renowned SquareBurger.
Franklin Square is one of the original Philadelphia Squares, designed by William Penn himself (and if you don't know who that is, come to Philadelphia and they'll tell you). It's been completely updated for family fun, including a miniature golf course, a playground, and a carousel. It also includes a storytelling bench, where historical characters will tell you their story. It's just a couple blocks from the Liberty Bell, so if your toddler just needs to let off some steam, this is a great place to take a break.
Neat little urban park. Go during late spring/early summer to enjoy the Philadelphia Chinese Lantern Festival every evening. Or, to see what's going on for free, you can get into the park with no charge during the day while the festival is going on.
