“This stunning alpine wilderness, dominated by dolerite peaks, tarns, lakes and alpine vegetation, is part of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area.”

This stunning alpine wilderness, dominated by dolerite peaks, tarns, lakes and alpine vegetation, is part of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. The return walk to Dixon;s Kingdom is about 10 hours, and to the summit of Mt Jerusalem is about 12 hours. It is recommended to take a tent and stay overnight in this stunning landscape to make the walk easier. The view from any of the peaks takes in thousands of alpine tarns and the neighbouring peaks such as Cradle Mountain, barn Bluff, the Pelion range, Mt Ossa, East & West Pelion, and south past cathedral Mountian and Falling Mountian, as well as the spectacular Mersey River Valley near lake Rowallan. Bushwalkers should be experienced and well equipped for alpine conditions as the weather can be inclement at any time of year. Check parks site for access details. National Parks fees apply. National Park Passes can be purchased from Visitor Centres.
