This Alaskan island glamping resort looks like something out of a dream
Alaska is an insanely beautiful wilderness well worth exploring, but it can seem a bit… overwhelming. Especially for those more used to traveling in comfort. If you’re more into glamping than camping, you can still experience the rugged beauty of Alaska on your terms. Welcome to Orca Island Cabins, located on a private island in Resurrection Bay just south of Seward! This resort boasts pimped-out yurts scattered across a gorgeous private island, Alaskan excursions, and tons more.
First, the yurts. They’re fully equipped with kitchens, private bathrooms, running water, heaters, and private decks. They’re also eco-friendly, using solar power and propane. And, most importantly, they’re really cute and comfy inside, with a queen bed and a futon. All you have to do is pack in your food for your stay! There are also a few common areas/decks, which offer Adirondack chairs and insane views. The wildlife you can spot around the island is abundant. Spot orcas, seals, otters, hermit crabs, porpoises, and more.
When you’re not chilling out in your yurt, the resort makes it easy to explore. They’ll guide you to beaches for tidepooling and trails for hiking. They also provide fishing gear, stand up paddleboards, and kayaks for rent. There are plenty of fire pits for marshmallow roasts and bonfire get-togethers. The island even has its own art gallery! Orca Island is also more than happy to help you book boat tours and other excursions to make your trip extra special.
Still feeling on the fence about glamping? Perhaps this picture of the view from the porch of your yurt will convince you:
