“The Gateway to Etosha”

The Gondwana Etosha Safari Camp is one the most iconic and well known establishments in all of Namibia.   The rustic and historic township themed restaurant and bar area, make for an incredible atmosphere and vibe. And if you thought it could not get better,the in-house band often surprise guests in the evening with impromptu performances around the fire and swimming pool.  Breakfasts and Dinner are also availabe, accompanied by a team of friendly, hospitable and professional staff. There are over 50 rooms available, each fully serviced and with all the usual amenities. The campsite is one of the largest in the country and is one of the very few that is grass covered, and constantly maintained.  The site also has a number of restroom blocks with warm showers. The national park gates open at Etosha at sunrise, and the lodge and campsite are perfectly located less than 10km from the Andersson’s Gate.

I have stayed here many times, and upon every arrival have been greeted by the most friendly, warm and welcoming people. This is definitely one of Namibia’s best and most well known camping spots... the campsite is huge and the grass allows a comfort not often found in Namibia. The restrooms are A-Grade.

But the real reason people visit Etosha Safari Camp is the vibe. The entire establishment is themed around the history of the area and of Namibia and it is presented in an incredible fashion. The bar and restaurant walls are covered with old posters, number plates, photographs of the countries giving each visitor glimpse of the journey that as culminated in the success that Namibia is today. The ‘shebeen’ styled bar is awesome!

Best part... is sitting with friends around the fire, listening to local in-house band who are absolute magicians on their guitars. This is a special place, ato spend a night before heading into Etosha National Park... which is perhaps the most special place on the planet.
