“Set in the hills behind the beautiful Piha beach in a steep sided volcanic rock valley, with a series of thundering waterfalls that cascade their way down the valley towards the ocean – providing a spectacular setting for your adventure.”
You will get to experience abseiling over the majestic Kitekite falls, as well as descend down an intense narrow slot canyon along with jumps, caves and idyllic natural rock pools to swim in.
Our group sizes are small and allow you to choose the level of adventure that’s right for you! A no-rush, explore at your own pace adventure, while gaining access to hidden pools and water sculptured gorges.
All the jumps and cave are optional…
This otherwise inaccessible environment, last used by the pioneers as they worked the canyon 100 years ago, harvesting the mighty Kauri logs and flushing them from the hills via dam releases – Some of the old logs remain embedded in the canyon.
Following the trip we visit Piha’s famous black sand surf beach. One of the advantages of the Piha canyon is its good access, with only a 35 min walk in and 5 min downhill walk out from the end of the canyon, means you will have time to relax at the beach or climb Lion Rock – that is if you still have energy to burn after the trip!
