“Stirling Point is the most southern mainland point in New Zealand.”

Stirling Point is the most southern mainland point in New Zealand. Stirling Point is located at the beginning (and end) of State Highway 1, in the small township of Bluff. The Point is named after Captain William Stirling who established a Whaling Station nearby in 1836. Stirling Point is famous for its signpost, depicting distances to major cities in the world. This signpost has featured in thousands of photographs with tourists from all around the world. From Stirling Point visitors can enjoy the choice of two scenic walks. The Foveaux Walk is a two-hour walk around the coastline and the Glory Track is a 20 to 30-minute trek. Also at the point are a range of facilities including a café, a restaurant and accommodation.
