“first microbrewery in topeka”
The Blind Tiger Brewery and Restaurant first opened its doors for business in May 1995, becoming the first microbrewery in the city and the largest brewery in Kansas. The Blind Tiger Brewery was named after the Prohibition-era custom of displaying stuffed tigers to alert patrons to speakeasies or the availability of alcohol. True to our name, we serve handcrafted beers, all of which we brew here locally. The Blind Tiger Brewery is, in itself, a huge establishment, with an incredible multi-level interior. Seating capacity rests at 300 on eight different levels, including an outdoor deck. Our unique lighting, and rich decorated cedar interior creates an ambience for everyone to enjoy. Our own special bar and lounge offers full menu service with seating for 150. You can catch your favorite sporting event on one of 18 televisions or on our HUGE 8' x 10' projection screen TV. For those who are first time visitors to our brewery, check out the memorabilia that covers the walls national and local celebrities and events!
