“Along the Banks of the North Country”
Franz Jevne State Park is a state park of Minnesota, USA. It is located on the Rainy River (which demarks the Canada – United States border) between International Falls and Baudette in Koochiching County. The land for the 118-acre (0.48 km2) park was donated to the state by the Franz Jevne family; the park was created in 1967 by the Minnesota Legislature Camping reservations may be made up to one year in advance of your first night's stay. Whether it is the night before, or the year before, we will have a spot waiting for you. Now you can search by date to find the perfect time for your overnight stay. Beaver, wolf, and moose have been sighted in this park. Bird life is rich along the Rainy River! Songbirds and woodpeckers fill the forest with sound. And keep your eyes out for pelicans on the water and bald eagles roosting in the trees along the riverbanks. In 1961, a National Park Service survey recommended that land along the Rainy River between International Falls and Baudette be set aside as a park. Some of the land was privately owned by the family of Franz Jevne, a lawyer in International Falls and later, in Minneapolis. Late in 1966, the sons of Franz Jevne offered to donate the acreage to the state for use as a park on the condition that it be named after their father. Although the 118-acre area is a small tract of land by comparison with other state parks, this park is among the most scenic areas along the Rainy River. In 1967, the Minnesota Legislature approved a bill to create Franz Jevne State Park.

Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on October 06, 2017This is a lovely rustic campground with fantastic privacy between most sites. This campground is probably most popular with anglers and hunters, as it has a boat launch right on the Rainy River (which borders Canada), but it does have a few trails as well. All of the trails are easily accomplished in a couple hours, but you won't find any amazing views. I'd recommend walking down to the river and doing the loop around the rock outcrop. You can also climb on top of the rocks for some better views.
The state park's website advises no fifth wheels or large RVs beyond the picnic area, and there is a sign advising against heavy trailers. I had no problem in my SUV and 20' 5,000-pound trailer with a WD hitch. There is one turn in particular that is a little steep as it curves, but if you go slow and hug the side, you'll be fine, I think. But larger trailers or class A RVs: absolutely not, go somewhere else. Backing up can be difficult in a few sites, but there were only a few people here, so I was easily able to pick a spot with an easy back-in. Most of the sites have grass elevated tent pads.
No electric except for two sites (not sure which). Great AT&T and Verizon LTE coverage. Very clean. Trash bins weirdly at every single site. No reservations accepted: you pay with an envelope (cash, check, or card number accepted). There are loud trains all night long, but I slept through most of them.

We’ve stayed here several times and always enjoy it. Rustic, well kept, clean, wooded, on the river, very friendly manager. Highly recommend.
