“Food & Drink in Pennsauken, NJ”

When most people think of diners, they think a place where you can start your mornings off with bottomless cups of coffee, and your typical eggs, bacon, home fries and pancakes. Incredibly, although these are simple, staple items at most diners, you’d be amazed at the differences as to how these simple items are prepared and served. Most people don’t think that a diner is a place where you can actually go to get dinner and cocktails. There are always exceptions to most rules. Penn Queen Diner is one of those exceptions. Family owned and operated for 50 years, they take great pride in not only what goes on in the back of the house as well as in the front. They’ve amassed a vast and loyal clientele over the decades. Most are greeted on a first name basis as they walk in, which is a rarity in today’s environment. Penn Queen is a place where families and friends; old and new, meet to share stories but also to get amazing, home cooked meals at an exceptional value. One wouldn’t think that you could go to a diner to get fresh flounder, shrimp, scallops, deviled crab, broiled fillet of salmon, natural veal cutlet parmesan, stuffed fillet of tilapia filled with crabmeat, New York strip with broiled or fried stuffed shrimp and fresh turkey breast that is cooked in house and served fresh; never frozen. How about their fresh, home made soups? Everything from cream of chicken beef noodle, old fashioned chicken, Yankee bean, onion, cream of tomato w/rice, vegetable, chicken Ditilini, minestrone, Manhattan clam chowder and the list goes on. Did we mention their incredible selection of baked goods? Every morning their pastry chefs bake a delicious variety of fresh cakes such as their second to none cheesecake, carrot cake, strawberry shortcake, Jewish apple cake, as well as a variety of pastries such as cannoli’s, éclairs, cream puffs, cupcakes and brownies. You can get whole cakes or by the slice as well as order cakes for any special occasion. They use fresh products that are cooked to order and to your liking. It’s no wonder that their clientele is loyal. They know great food, good value and the meaning of what it’s like to be recognized as you walk in and valued for your patronage. These such ingredients are not only essential when your meal is being prepared for you, but equally as important is that they take pride in knowing who you are, and value you as a customer. They never forgot that you; the customer is the main and key ingredient to their success. Equally as important is their staff; most of which have been there for years, which is a testament as to how they not only run their operation but also how they treat their staff. When they say it’s family owned and operated for nearly 50 years; that’s not a slogan, it’s their creed and what defines them. It’s the fabric that binds their business and keeps customers coming back. So, next time you and your friends are debating as to where to go for breakfast, lunch or dinner, as well as a cocktail, cold beer or a glass of wine, make sure you put Penn Queen Diner at the top of your list as you will not be disappointed. Stop in and experience for yourself what hundreds of loyal customers have known for years. See you at Penn Queen!

I live close by, and I love a diner. Last 2 times we were there, didn't seem to have enough wait staff to handle the crowd around 5-6pm. The 2 men seem to be owners, and just seat folks while the... Read more
