“Native Americans & pioneer graffiti”

Located on the Prairie Trail Scenic Byway northwest of Marquette about 5 miles north of Kanopolis Reservoir and State Park, 3 miles west of K-141 on Avenue K, a county road or south of K-140 from Caneiro on 25th Road One of the 8 Wonders of Kansas Geography, Mushroom Rock is the smallest, but one of the most unique, state parks in Kansas. The park is only 5 acres but boasts some of the most unusual rock formations anywhere. The rocks served as meeting places and landmarks for Native Americans and early pioneers such as John C. Fremont and Kit Carson.

Pretty nice side trip to help break up the monotony of Kansas. If you're lucky you'll see a B-1 Bomber from nearby McConnell AFB fly over. The kids really enjoyed it too. Restrooms are available, but no potable water.

Very fun spot to stop on the way to CO. Only off the path by a little bit, it was perfect to go with a wide range of ages and mobilities. My mom was a little challenged by the path, but we just took our time. The kids could explore freely and it sparked their creativity. Had lunch on a beautiful day!

All I could think about was Mario Bros. I thought this was an amazing tiny park to see. These clever little stops make road trips much more fun exciting. If you have kids, they will love it. If you don't have kids, like me, you will climb these like a kid (like me).

Get place to visit but not easy to find. The road conditions into the area are dirt, two trackers and they were not in good condition. Huge potholes and washboard roads. It is our understanding the area is very susceptible to flooding and when we visited many of the roads were flooded in the surrounding parks and areas. Once in the park it is fairly small but the Mushroom Rocks are very cool. In addition when we visited they had the most amazing dragonflies living in the area. They are tons of fun to climb on and a perfect stop for the kids to burn off some energy.

This place was absolutely awesome! The rocks are so strange and interesting. We had our 3 dogs with us and they loved wandering around here with us. We put it on our next trip through Kansas so we can see it again!

We stopped here on our way from Fruita, CO to Eureka Springs, AR. As far as I could tell this was really the only cool natural feature to stop and see through this part of the country. Worth the detour, also cool just to see the rural country side. Great place to stop for a picnic lunch and a dog walk.

Nice but not the most exciting side trip but for sure breaks up the monotony of 70. Convenient easy detour. Also a great way to stretch your legs, use the bathroom. My dog loved since she could run around which is pretty priceless on a long roadtrip

Super neat, it was raining for us, but the kids still ran around and looked at all the awesome rocks.
