Covert Park at Mount Bonnell

You can climb up the stairs to get to this view. Its really beautiful and I HEARD that if a couple climbs up to the top together, they are to last in their relationship for a very long time ;)

Mount Bonnell is definitely a hot spot to visit, especially for those who are fond of great picturesque views of the amazing Lake Austin.

It is one of the very few place near Austin that is so easily accessible, but above all its FREE! Take your family or friends with you and go all the way up the path, roughly 100 steps. 100 steps to paradise as i call them, because when you will get on the top you will feel so pleased for having done so. Except from exercising, an activity that most of the times we forget to do on a daily basis, the view that unfolds beneath you is absolutely outstanding. There you can also find some picnic tables, where you can enjoy a meal surrounded by beautiful nature and idyllic surroundings. DO NOT forget, when you finish with your picnic to take all the garbage with you!!! Natural places should be respected by all for all !!

Great for those who want very short walk with scenic views. Almost every lookout point is spectacular!

Nice short hike for great views of expanding Austin. Hike straight up stairs have a picnic and work your way upstream (downhill) for a good sightseeing experiende. Close by for nature lovers is Mayfield Park & Laguna Gloria (AMoA)

Easy to get there. You have to go up some very steep stairs but the view is worth it. I did not walk down the trail, it was too much for my then 3 yr old. But the top was beautiful enough . Would go again

I agree this is the best scenic view of austin and the best place for watching a romantic sunset or sunrise. One of the best things i did during my 4 day stay in Austin!

If you really want to impress visitors to Austin, bring them to this scenic viewing spot. You can see all of downtown and the surrounding area. Views of the river and multi-million dollar homes are an added bonus.
