“The longest state spanning pedestrian bridge”
The longest pedestrian bridge to link two states, providing safe crossing from Omaha to Council Bluffs over the Missouri River for walking and biking enthusiasts, connecting to 150 miles of trails on each side. The Cable Stay bridge is 3,000 ft long, including the landings; the walkway is 15 ft wide, and allow visitors to stand about 60 ft above the river. Lights outline the deck, cables and pylons at night, a spectacular sight! On the Nebraska side, enjoy the 3-acre Omaha Plaza with an interactive water jet fountain, Fiber Wave Sculpture, River Critters Environmental Play Area and access to the National Park Service Visitors Center.
Good stop to get out and walk to stretch your legs and take a photo in two states at once. State line for Iowa and Nebraska painted on the bridge!
Great photo op on the bridge with a labeled line separating Nebraska and Iowa. Take a picture standing in two states on a bridge over the Missouri River.
Want to take a walk on over to Iowa? With a walk on the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge, you can!
When you visit Omaha, you just have to visit the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge. It is a footbridge north of I-480 that spans 3,000 feet to connect Omaha, Nebraska, to Council Bluffs, Iowa, over the Missouri River.
For spectacular views, take a walk during sunset — you won’t regret it!
We think a visit here is one of the best things to do in Omaha!
Great for a photo op and to stretch your legs! When it is windy you can feel the bridge sway a little. Very surreal feeling!
fun to walk and take pics - very very windy - but I love the wind - portapotties available.
We walked all the way from Nebraska to Iowa!! It was a hike!! On the Iowa side of the bridge theres a little playground for kids to play and a beautiful view of the Omaha skyline. On the Nebraska side, you can see great views of the river. The walk wasn’t very long but a great way to stretch those legs.
Cool place to stop and walk around. Awesome view off the bridge and walking across state lines is pretty cool. Also on the Iowa side is a firefighters memorial statue that’s really neat. Building was closed due to COVID but bridge and garden are accessible.
March 2019: Enter from the Nebraska side. Parking for the Iowa side is closed due to flooding. Or if you don’t mind a 40 min round trip stroll, it’s not a bad walk. Fortunately it stopped raining just in time for me to stretch my legs. :)
I had fun being in 2 states at the same time
We planned this stop mainly to say we had been to Iowa and take the "standing in two states" pic, but the walk along the bridge was beautiful and peaceful. The bridge did sway a bit but it wasn't too noticeable until we stopped to take pictures. The splash pad was a hit with the kids, too.
