The Caverns of Sonora is recognized as the most beautiful cave in Texas and one of the most beautiful show caves in the world. The Caverns of Sonora is located on Interstate 10, about half-way between Big Bend National Park and San Antonio Texas. We are located 15 miles southwest of Sonora, Texas and the Caverns is a great place for people of all ages to experience the wonders of nature. This place is awesome!! D, our guide, was fun and knowledgeable. One of the BEST stops we made over the course of our trip. Friendly people, great gift shop, reasonable price and one of THE PRETTIEST caves I've seen

Its a good stop to break up the long drive to Grand Canyon. The caves are all pretty small. They dont give you hardhats and one guy knocked his head pretty good.

A beautiful Virtual Tour ended in the most sadly experience for my family. We traveled with the best intentions to introduced our kids to natural wonders. Rules are strictly Ridiculously enforced, we understand and respect the rules. We were kicked out from the cavern after my daughter was posing for a picture ( not touching anything). We were just a few steps back from the line. In a very Unprofessional and rude tone of voice, the guide told us to LEAVE. We exited the caverns shocked of his way of treatment as it was I humane and unkind. The guider threatens us ( the adults) to take us to jail infront of my children (3 and 6 years old). We asked to speak to the owner and the owner has no comment about it. I tried to make send if his behavior, why so violent? I request video proof- in order to validate my daughter’s behavior- they refused. The guider began using profane language and again threatening us with the sheriff. We kindly offered an exchange of word, but it very difficult to dialogue with someone who has no Professionalism, work ethicate, and ZERO Children Tolerance.

Sadly, the cavern is just interested in making business!!! Making money,

CAVERNS OF SONORA——> STOP 🛑 ✋ 🛑 allowing children, it’s inevitable to NOT make footprint when You are allowing visitors in ( especially children).

PARENTS !!! Avoid this place... Take your travel fun somewhere else!
the way we were treated— Literally like animals, yelled at, screamed at, cursed infront of my children. This is not how HuMANs should treat other humans...

Never again!
Please help us by Sharing our experience SO others don’t have to experience this Nightmare!

This is an awesome cave. Worth going to over some bigger ones, like Carlsbad.

Really wanted to make it here on our trip but for some reason the driving time was way off and ended up having to stop before we could reach this point. People in the area said it was really neat!

We stayed here for a single night so we could visit the caverns. It's located about 7 miles off I-10 with a 1 mile section of hard packed gravel at the end. There are pull-thru and back in spots with water and electric hook-ups. The campground is a very basic gravel lot with not a lot of separation between sites, but you're not there for the sites...you're there for the caverns! Which are incredible and well worth the $20/person tour price. Even if you don't plan to see the caverns (but you totally should), this is a great spot to spend the night on what is otherwise a really desolate section of I-10.
