“Awesome food and awesome music in Minneapolis, MN”
The Triple Rock Social Club is a bar, music venue co-owned by Gretchen Funk and Erik Funk of the punk band Dillinger Four. It is featured in the song "Seeing Double At The Triple Rock" by Fat Wreck Chords labelmates NOFX, the video for the song was shot at the club. The bar first opened in 1998. It sells foreign and independently brewed beers and offers vegetarian dishes in addition to standard bar fare. The venue portion of the club opened in June 2003, with Lifter Puller reuniting for the first show. The Triple Rock is a common venue for local and up-and-coming bands to play. Nationally known bands have also played at the club.
Great spot to see a concert and grab some semi-cheap drinks. Saw Dessa open for Saul Williams a couple years back, and it was big enough to fit everyone, but not so big that it didn't feel intimate.
This bar was closed a few months ago. :-( it was a staple in the community and it is missed!
The food at Triple Rock is amazing, especially if you're vegetarian/vegan. I'm used to only have one or two options to choose from, but I didn't have that problem here. I'm not sure if they still offer it, but they used to serve a "chef's choice", which was the chef would make whatever he wanted for you and you couldn't refuse it. There might have been a contract involved as well, I don't know because I was never brave enough to try ordering it.
