With its 113 acres of forest, California Woods Nature Preserve offers something for all nature lovers. The park features 53 species of trees, more than 200 species of herbaceous plants, and Lick Run Creek, home to kingfishers, snapping turtles, small fish, myriad invertebrates and the occasional visit from grebes, mallards, wood ducks and beavers. California Woods Nature Center offers year-round educational programs, and California Woods also contains miles of hiking trails. It is adjacent to the Magrish Preserve, a designated Important Birding Area. *No Dogs Allowed*
A great little spot for a hike. Lots of trails that traverse through a very hilly little forest with many steps and little bridges. There are loops from 30 mins to several hours.. Don't forget your Mosquito spray!
The best woods in the city.
You won't really think that this place is connected and a part of a park system of the city since the place somehow looks very natural and also heavily wooded. Also it is well maintained and the trails ranges from the easy ones down to the challenging. The trails are also well marked, so it will be more easier and you won't worry about getting lost. The beauty of nature here is also very remarkable and extremely beautiful. The wonderful sights and the fresh air will really help you relax and sometimes help soothe the stressful feeling from work.
