“enjoy the Cape Blanco lighthouse & historic Hughes House tours”

Located at the state's westernmost tip, and perched over the Pacific Ocean, Cape Blanco features a 19th-century lighthouse and an early Irish settler's home. Use our private, sheltered campsites as your base camp while you enjoy the park's history, trails and rugged coastline. More than eight miles of hiking trails lead to the beach, viewpoints of ocean vistas, fishing spots along the Sixes River, and the lighthouse. On horseback, follow a seven-mile trail or enjoy a 150-acre open riding area across from the horse camp.

Campsites were spacious with plenty of room and foliage between us and our neighbors. Very private! Our site was huge - maybe one of the larger ones. Although Cape Blanco is very windy, the pine trees provide a comfortable shelter. Nicely maintained fire pits plus you can buy fire wood and fire starters from the camp hosts.

Cape Blanco is a little further off highway 101 than some of the other state parks. The road in has a few gravel patches but we had no trouble. There is a town 15 minutes south of the campground with gas, food, and a nice laundromat. We recommend the fish and chips at the Crazy Norwegian restaurant.

Great trails! We enjoyed the one that skirted the cliffs with stunning views and and a beautiful picnic area. There is a pretty steep road down to the secluded beach. (We walked it but you can drive down.) The lighthouse, the oldest in Oregon, is very pretty but only open for a few hours in the afternoon.

Only real downside is that the dump station is closed.

The weather is the only question mark about this state park. It’s quiet, 5 miles from main road. The bathrooms were very clean and cleaned daily. The spaces are far apart from each other. Great Place to spend a few days

We stayed here a few years ago and they still don’t have a dump station. Dump station in Port Orford.
If you have dish or direct TV our site was probably the only one to get any satellites as most are in the trees. We had an open play area behind us which faced south. We got 2 satellites, never pick out sites specifically for TV it just happened.
Many hiking opportunities in the area.
This CG is usually booked so plan your stay.
Deep sites and new are some cabins.
Some sites have a view through the trees to the ocean

We loved this place. Showers and restrooms very clean and heated. Friendly competent staff. Good spacing and vegetation between most campsites for privacy. Great day-hikes to beach and lighthouse. But it’s completely out of character for an Oregon state park because they have zero ways to dump waste. No sites have sewer and the park dump station has been out of service for years. Hard to understand how the SP organization allows this critical flaw!

Stayed here for two nights and enjoyed our stay. Nice, level site with lots of privacy. We appreciated the clean showers and great hosts. The trails were nice- loved hiking to the lighthouse and beach. Would have liked access to dump. Bunnies were super cute. It

Somewhat secluded camp sites. The 4 "B" sites are the only sites with sewer pump out. At this site, of the 3 major cellular carriers, only Verizon had useable coverage. The other two would come and go. Walk a hundred feet away for the other carriers to get decent signal. Our dogs loved the small park at the shore with the gray view, picnic tables and plenty of greenery to run around in.

The campground is located about 6 miles from the Hwy, and sets in a heavy forested area close to the cliff, approximately 250 feet above the ocean. Although there are no scenic views from the campground, one does not need to walk very far until you get to one.

This is a state park that only has a small number of full hookup sites for "hosts". Otherwise, it's water and electricity only. Also, there is NO DUMP SITE at the park, period. So, if you are in a rig, that might dictate how many days you want to stay here. Also, our 30A service plug was loose, so I used a 50A converter plug and plugged into the 50A service.

The campground has trails that lead to the Cape Blanco Lighthouse, and to the beach where you can get on the Oregon Coast Trail, and walk forever. We hiked to the Sixes River and back, ~5 miles, and it took us about 3.5 hours.

In 3 days, we didn't see one park ranger, and only 2 volunteers. Oregon now uses a 100% online reservation system, so its advised that you make reservations before you arrive, even if it has vacancies.

Cape Blanco is a beautiful state park. Pretty much all of the sites in this campground are good sites. They're nicely spaced and the natural landscaping is abundant.

During our stay the winds were whipping, but we were protected by the trees, making for a hypnotizing ambient sound.

I was able to get 3 bars of AT&T 4G and 4 bars of Verizon 4G with the Wilson Sleek Booster.

This is a fantastic park -- the sites are big and well spaced, there's a lot of trees and acess to the ocean. We stayed in a cliff side spot and it was awesome.

We didn't have a reservation, but crossed our fingers that there would be an opening. Yay! Arrived around 1 pm and scored the last spot in this well-maintained park. A9 was one of the sunniest spots in this heavily wooded campground.

We walked along the beach overlook path towards the lighthouse and stumbled upon the Cape Blanco Slope Fest (soaring) event which was enthralling to watch. Spied a couple of whales spouting, and observed a wrecked ship being slowly dragged along the beach to the south by two caterpillars as part of a salvage operation.

We enjoyed a tour of the Harris House the next morning on our way out. Don't miss it!

Update: We just stayed 4 nights in August of 2016, in the same spot as last year (A9 which is sunnier than most at CB). During this visit we hiked both north and south beaches several times, did the proper lighthouse tour (free with our National Park pass). We also whale-watched from the bluff overlooking the south beach. Even though the fog rolled in and we experienced serious wind, the sun came out enough each day to warm us up. We could have stayed forever!

Cell phone signal seemed stronger this year (Verizon LTE, two bars, plus we have a booster now which probably helped.
