The Cougar Butte Trail features Cow Horn Arch, a natural rock formation located near the trailhead at the intersection of Road #68 and Road #6800-500. Excellent vistas of the Jackson Creek drainage and views extending to Northern California are featured along this high country trail leading to the Rogue-Umpqua Divide. The trail winds through large open alpine meadows full of wildflowers and along the tops of ridges with unusual rock formations. The trail terminates on the old road to Abbott Butte Lookout and the Rogue Umpqua Divide Trail #1470. The old lookout is standing, but it's unsafe for climbing up into the building. Springs are located at Paradise Camp, Cow Camp, and along the road leading to Abbott Butte Lookout.
