“compact park overlooking sand bar”
Salishan Spit, a sandy beach, and Siletz Bay can be seen from this compact city park. When baitfish swim into the bay in summer, hoards of California and Heermann's gull assemble to dine with Caspian tern, and western and ring-billed gull. Thayer's, glaucous-winged, herring, and mew gulls are regulars in winter, as are common goldeneye, loons, grebes, scoters, red-breasted merganser -- and at low tide, black turnstone, and sanderling. Infrequent winter arrivals include Barrow's goldeneye, Clark's grebe, and long-billed curlew.
