“Coffee bar on Capitol Hill”

Ryan Jensen has over ten years of experience in the specialty coffee industry, beginning as a part-time barista while in college in Missoula, MT. After moving to Washington, DC, in early 2003, he began working at murky coffee as a barista, manager and, eventually, general manager before, during and after attending the Graduate Institute at St. John’s College in Annapolis, MD. After leaving murky coffee in late 2006, Ryan spent a year and a half as the DC Customer Relations Representative for Counter Culture Coffee, a wholesale coffee roaster based out of Durham, NC.

Great coffee selection with drip available during morning rush and an assortment of beans for pour over. The largest serving was 12oz. I completely understand proper ratios for espresso drinks and love a traditional cappuccino, but I will never understand the rationale for not serving a 16oz drip coffee.

This is a neat little shop. I'm a tea-drinker, rather than coffee, and I was pleased to see a good selection of teas available. I went for the classic Earl Gray and was not disappointed. They appeared to be limited to 12oz cups, so if you're looking for more, get two.

Though the city doesn't want for great coffee, Peregrine stands in a class by itself for its well-pulled shots of Counter Culture espresso and a menu full of creative coffee concoctions, like the spiced cascara tea and coffee-centric sodas invented by the staff in monthly competitions.
