“For the true Andy Griffith Fan”

The Andy Griffith Homeplace, which has long been a tourist attraction to the area, was transformed into a rental property under former owner, Gary York. York bought the property for $86,900 during an auction sale held in the fall of 1998. He sold the house to the owners of the Mount Airy Hampton Inn for an undisclosed amount. The Griffiths bought the house for $600 on Oct. 31, 1935. They sold the house on May 31, 1966, for $6,000. The house contains antiques and is decorated 1930s-1940s style. Griffith memorabilia and stories can also be found at every turn. Experience the simplicity of Mayberry in this two bedroom, one bath home located less than one mile from the Andy Griffith Playhouse, Snappy Lunch, Floyd’s City Barber Shop and Downtown Mount Airy. Rates are $175-$200. Forms of payment accepted: travelers checks, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and Diners Club. Check-in is at 3 p.m. and check-out is at 11 a.m. Reservations are recommended. Check-in and reservations are made through the Mount Airy Hampton Inn. A continental breakfast at the Hampton Inn is provided. Amenities include cablevision, daily maid service, use of facilities at the Hampton Inn such as outdoor pool and exercise room. Directions: US 52 North to US 601, half mile to Haymore St. House is on right.

Great photo op for the Andy Griffith enthusiast. Since this house can be rented, there is a sign in the front that asks for you to not disturb the guests.

One of the stops on the Squad Tour (in Mayberry cop car.) Good for Mayberry enthusiast, might be neat to rent out.

Definitely neat to drive by! It gets rented out, so don't try getting out and looking around. The town is super cute too! Look for the Mayberry Courthouse and Wally's Service Station too!
