Pets only allowed in parking lot. About 6 miles off the road and then just a very short walk to a great observation point. No need to hike to see the dwellings from above.

Very cool stop. Be sure to do the hike around the island as there are many neat dwellings that are not visible from above. There are quite a few steps but the whole hike takes less than an hour. This does not compare to Mesa Verde but still worth the stop.

Great place to visit. The island hike is short but very challenging and so very beautiful. No dogs allowed on the island trail but they are allowed on the rim trail.

I would give it a 5 star if everything was open, but COVID-19 has half of this place on lock down. Got to see 2 dwellings up close, and could see one cave dwelling from the observation deck. This place makes me miss watching the Flintstones! It is so beautiful!

AMAZING!!!!! Be sure to bring your walking shoes - relatively easy with stairs up and down. Be sure to NOT MISS the trail around the "island" - where you can get really up close and personal with some cliff dwellings

Really interesting place to visit and such a short drive right outside Flagstaff. It's a great museum and an easy hike around the canyon thanks to a well maintained trail system.

I wasn't expecting to be so interesting this hike and the entire park. The views are amazing, you literally experience the caves. The path is super nice, the history is unique. Great day trip.

Nice walk down to see the dwellings up close. Lots of stairs down. They have information boards you can read but I recommend reading the ones along the staircase when you walk back up. That way you get to stop and take a breather if needed. There are benches on the staircase platforms to rest too. Some of the path does not have guardrails so personally I wouldn’t feel comfortable bringing small children with me. Once at the dwellings the paths are very smooth. Tennis shoes are fine. Nice clean bathrooms and visitor center. Picnic tables scattered around.

Just happened to see the sign for this place on way towards Flagstaff so we pulled off and went in. The rim trail was pretty easy and had some cool views but the island trail is amazing. It is long set of steps that go down to it with areas of cliff dwellings. But you do have to climb your way back out of there. And it’s a trek. Fabulous views tho and is really something to see.
