“Woodstock's oldest guesthouse”

Twin Gables first became a guesthouse in the 1920s, when artists Mr. & Mrs. Alfred Daibler purchased the 19th-century house at the height of Woodstock's first flowering as a center for creative people. It was an unprecedented time in Woodstock’s history— the beginning of the Byrdcliffe Arts Colony, which served as a Utopian artists’ community, attracting free-spirits and bohemians from around the world.  Twin Gables’s architecture and furnishings create an ambiance that revives the relaxed, easy living of that period in time. And, for almost a century, quality service and hospitality in our immaculate Catskill Mountains’ inn have earned us a respected reputation for charming, comfortable and affordable accommodations.  To this day, Twin Gables’ many artist friends continue to contribute to this bed & breakfast’s permanent and reasonably priced rotating art collection – invoking the spirit of its original inception. Most of the guesthouse’s art work is for sale with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the artists.  Just as Twin Gables is fully committed to supporting the arts, it is equally devoted to minimizing its ecological footprint on the planet. Our amenities – soaps, shampoos, hair conditioners -- are completely natural, environmentally friendly and biodegradable – including the bottles themselves! We also minimize our water use and only use top-of-the-line natural cleaning products.  Although Twin Gables is Woodstock’s oldest guesthouse, it’s mission is to remain with the times and several steps ahead.

Stayed here with my boyfriend for one night. It was located in a great place such that it was near almost every nice spot in the vicinity. Twin Gables is a charming old home with simple and lovely rooms for their guests. The one that we had was a large room with eclectic designs and has its own private bath. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were really soft. Breakfast was good even though it was just the typical stuff; granola, some muffins, fresh fruits and yogurt. Service was nice, too. The staff always made sure that we were getting the things that we need. A friendly place to stay at.
