“only Florida state park with cave tours”

This is one of the few state parks with dry (air-filled) caves and is the only state park in Florida to offer cave tours to the public. The cave has dazzling formations of limestone stalactites, stalagmites, soda straws, flowstones and draperies. The Chipola River and a freshwater spring provide areas for fishing, canoeing and boating. Florida Caverns State Park is popular for camping, picnicking and horseback riding. The park does not rent horses, however stables are available for equestrian campers. The park also features a nine-hole, New Deal-era golf course set in beautiful rolling terrain. Guided cave tours are offered Thursday through Monday except Thanksgiving and Christmas (no cave tours on Tuesday and Wednesday). The tour lasts 35-40 minutes and is considered to be moderately strenuous. An audiovisual program about touring the cave and other natural areas of the park is available in the visitor center.

Unfortunately, Marianna was slammed hard by Hurricane Michael. It is closed until further notice. Check this website before you go: https://www.floridastateparks.org/StormUpdates

I have no clue how this park only received 3.5 out of 5 stars. Even though the rains flooded 3 of the cave rooms it was a great tour and the trails in the spring are breath taking full of wild flowers. I grew up in the Tampa Bay area, and we would frequently go camping and hunting all around Florida. I can't believe my parents never took us here growing up. If you hike early in the Moring you will see humming birds, fox and turkey roaming around.

Drove up to a sign that says closed until further notice. The recorded message didn’t provide this information so I thought I would share. Be sure to call and talk to a live person to find out the status before you go.

We stayed for two nights, September 9,&10, 2023, and found the park to be about half full. Very nice park, quiet with spacious spots. Bathhouse seems fairly new and was clean and maintained. Laundry facilities were available. There was a camp host on-site and the evenings entertainment was watching tens of bats pour out of an on-site bat house. We enjoyed the cavern tour also…didn’t take any hikes but there were plenty around. We were in loop BH1 site 20.

This was so fun! Less than $50 for my family of 4 and we learned so much. Slippery and a lot of bending, like playing limbo. Older people may not like it, for physical purposes. For us, it was great.

Awesome stop if you’re looking for places to hit during a road trip. Honey bee was the best tour guide and made the experience so much fun. Disclaimer. Wear comfy shoes. Tall people, be ready to duck down. People with any type of disabilities or bad knees, feet or back this could be challenging for you. All in all really cool experience! Would recommend.

They are open again! We love visiting the only air-filled walking cave tours in Florida. You’ll see unique formations of limestone stalactites, stalagmites, soda straws, flowstones and draperies!

This was a great stop for the family. We took our two children and enjoyed the cave tour. The tour was great for us. Lots of formations to see. We had a fun tour guide. The tour isn't too long so it was perfect for younger kids and still plenty to see and walk thru.
After the cave tour we took the bluff trail back to the car. This is a bit of a long trail with small kids. It also has lots of rocks jutting out and tripping potential. It was very beautiful walk thru vegetation and next to a swampy/marsh area. We ended at the parking lot and had a lunch at the picnic tables.

Be sure to wear tennis shoes and bring big spray. They do sell big spray in gift shop as well.

Very interesting stop. The kids enjoyed it. Lots of walking and ducking in the caves. Wear comfy shoes! The caves stay at 65 degrees year round, so it's nice and cool once you're underground.
