Absolutely breathtaking! Trails for novice to intermediate hikers. Make sure you stop by the visitor's center for tips from the volunteers. Have them show you the "lighthouse" from the viewfinder, or better yet, hike the trail to see it. If you love nature, don't miss this stop!

We loved Palo Duro canyon! We were road tripping from Dallas to the Grand Canyon and made sure to stop here for a night. It was our first canyon camping experience and it was incredible. Campgrounds were quiet and the scenery and stars were beautiful. Definitely will return to spend more time here!

Always beautiful. Be wary of wildlife, you're in their home. Take note of fire danger level and bring more water than you would expect.

This was about an hour out of our way, but we are so happy we made the trip! It was absolutely beautiful! We hiked some trails and it was a nice way to stretch our legs after a long day of driving.

We have visited Palo Duro Canyon Park twice with my family. It’s the best place to relax and watch the stars with the people you love. The camping spots were nice and well maintained. The second time around we had rented an RV, so our stay was more comfortable. In the morning you should go hiking, but even if you are not the adventuring type you can just walk around and admire the spectacular view. At night the best thing you can do is to stay up till late and watch the stars specially under a clear sky. Its a great place for the whole family and an experience you will remember for a lifetime.

Stayed in the Fortress Cliff camping (primitive) area. Only one there in late Feb. Only port-a-potties at this site, Mesquite Camp area just a short walk down the road which has the showers. But I drove (since there is a river crossing) All part of the park.
Really nice park. Definitely going back, to many trails for one day.

WOW. What a beautiful place. We'e been wanting to visit here since we got our RV back in March. Finally the opportunity came. Park is undergoing some road (bridge) improvements but that did not spoil anything in any way. Take your bikes, lots of places to ride, some very easy, some very strenuous, all are beautiful. Clean park, well kept. It's a 6 hour drive for us, but we will definitely be going back... soon.

As someone with mobility issues, I loved being able to drive the canyon and feel like I got to experience the beauty like everyone else. Would definitely return.

Definitely worth a look! If you don't have a lot of time for a detour, you can drive through and make a few stops for some photos. There is a paved road that makes a loop through the park. It was beautiful!
