“The church in the rocks”

The Chapel of the Holy Cross is a Roman Catholic Chapel built into the mesas of Sedona, Arizona, which was inspired and commissioned by sculptor Marguerite Brunswig Staude. Built on a twin pinnacled spur about 250 feet high, jutting out of a thousand foot red rock wall, "solid as the Rock of Peter" the building of the Chapel was completed in April 1956. Just the physical construction was a physical miracle, overcoming difficult conditions to construct this chapel.

One of the more special places I've visited in AZ. Parking is limited, but the views are great. Make a little donation while you're there! Perfect place to start your Sedona vacation.

One of the most beautiful buildings you're bound to see, and in the most unlikely of places. You might have a bit of trouble parking if you come on the weekend, but if you visit in the morning to watch the sun come up, it's incredible.

way too touristy, takes away the spiritual feeling a church should have. great architecture....but plan on waiting in line to find a parking space.

Warning - RVs cannot access the road to the chapel. I wish we’d known that before driving all the way to it and then having to circle through a tight neighborhood to turn around. Sedona didn’t seem RV friendly at all actually. We did not see a single RV or motorhome there the entire time we were in and out of the city.

Incredible beautiful building. I came here in the afternoon and it is gorgeous, but seeing some of the pictures here, the evening with a sunset looks incredible.

A beautiful building tucked in beautiful red rock formations. Can get some amazing photos if you visit around sunrise when the light hits the structure just right.
