“An old timey fort and museum”
Blast from the past! Great place to visit with the family. Make sure to give the kids $5 or so, so they can do their own shopping. Very well stocked western gift store including such staples as old time candy and fake buffalo poop. The "small" but very complete display of Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show in Miniature is great. Fort Cody Trading Post has been a beacon on the prairie for over 40 years! In 1968, Fort Cody opened near brand new Interstate 80 and a great partnership was born! It is pretty unusual for someone to say they haven’t stopped or at least driven by on their way to someplace else! The Fort is now in second generation ownership and we plan to be here for a long time. Customers that came as children are now bringing in their own kids or grandkids to savor that sweet touch of ‘Roadside Americana’ that is so quickly dwindling in the U.S. A stop at Fort Cody is to many, a step back into a more simple and gentle time. To others, it is a brand new adventure to explore and enjoy! Be sure to take time to view Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show in Miniature, with its 20,000 hand carved figures. It is one of the largest displays of folk art in the country! See our Old West Museum, filled with authentic pieces of historic Cowboy gear and Buffalo Bill memorabilia! Kids will enjoy exploring the stockade out back, complete with jail, wagons, log cabin, and one of the few remaining ‘Muffler Men’ in the United States! Our little two-headed calf has fascinated young and old for over 40 years, too. Yep, there’s something for everyone, all free of charge.

Cool and kitschy little tourist trap in North Platte. Everything seemed super affordable. The outside "fort" decor is awesome, and make sure you check out the unfortunate soul above the door who... Read more
