“Rt. 66 diner from the 30s”

You can now step back into the 1930s and smell the Blue Plate Special when you stop and eat at Atlanta's newest Rt. 66 project-the Palms Grill Cafe. The Grill, as the locals call it, opened in 1934, it was the center of downtown Atlanta on Rt. 66. It served locals and travelers alike, including its most famous customer, heavyweight boxing champion Max Baer, Sr. The Grill provided a great spot for a home-cooked meal, BINGO games, and weekly dances. If you wanted to catch the Greyhound Bus, you just flipped the switch for the light on the bottom of the Grill's large neon sign.

Made it in just around closing time and had the largest freakin' tenderloin sandwich I've ever had. My server, Angel, was absolutely nice as can be and even wore a classic 1950s diner server outfit. I was full after a long day of traveling and eating, but she insisted I take some pie for the road. My cherry pie became a pretty excellent roadside breakfast! If you want classic 1950s RT66 dining, this, friends, is it.

Cute, but if you come on Sunday, it is brunch buffet only, and they do not tell you. Good fried chicken and great pancakes. Would have liked some pie, but not on Sunday. Go during the week and see the shops when they are open.

We were traveling Route 66 by motorcycle headed to Missouri from Illinois. We left early and by 10am we were looking for breakfast.
I found this spot to eat, here on the Roadtrippers app. We got there right as they opened and we were the only people there. The breakfast was great, the prices were very reasonable and we couldn’t leave without trying some pie & cake!! Delicious 😋
This place is not very far off of the highway and I highly recommend trying it out!!

Great small-town feel and the best burger I've had in a long time.

It was an ominous start as they were out of several items, but WOW the burgers and grilled cheese sandwich were rated among the best ever. It is a quaint atmosphere with friendly smalltown staff. And delicious pies. It was like a time machine took us to 1950.
