Empire Mine State Historic Park

My family and I went to this historic place and took the tour. It was awesome and our tour guide even kept my 12 and 13 year old boys interested the whole time, which is hard to do.

The 19th Century history of California is so closely related to all these adventurous people who were looking for gold. The land of California was and still remains rich in gold and it was a place where loads of people became millionaires, but it was also a land of great tragedies and fighting with the gold mining in the epicenter.

When visiting Grass Valley, you should definitely visit the Empire Mine State Historic Park. This is not just a Californian historic gold mine, this is the OLDEST, LARGEST, and RICHEST Californian gold mine surrounded by 845 acres of forested back country. It is the ideal place to visit its premises and get a taste of how a gold mine of the 19th Century looked liked, with all the buildings being very well preserved and combine education with fun and natural weekend escape since in the park you will find 12 miles of trails ideal for hikers, bikers and horseback riders!

The entrance fee is only $7/person and it is well worth it. Self guided style of tours will reveal you all the history of the Bourne family and you will have many opportunities to take some really great photos. Ideal place for the whole family, including young children and elderly people. There is a gift shop with loads of very interesting things to buy in order to remember your visit!!! Thumbs up!!!!
