The Oven Pizza

Our original brick oven concept began in 2006 when Gary Matson and his former partner opened a brick oven pizza company in the South Hills of Pittsburgh called My Brick Oven. The company went through several name changes, first Azzeria and then City Oven and opened its second location in Wexford in 2009.After opening the Wexford location, Gary and his partner realized they had different visions for the company, so on June 28, 2011, Gary and Lisa Matson became the sole owners of the Wexford location. The Matsons cast a new vision for the company and in order to distinguish themselves from the former ownership, they renamed the restaurant – one last time – to The Oven Pizza Co.Under this new name, we have crafted a new mission, and values that are based on our Christian faith and our desire to serve our community. It is our hope that The Oven Pizza Co. would become a kind of ‘Home Away from Home’ for our customers – a place where people would gather over delicious, high quality foods and feel like they belong.To improve the quality of our foods, we added a new Hobart mixer and a new larger brick oven to make and bake all of our dough on site. We also fire-roast all of our, fresh vegetable and meat toppings to enhance their natural flavors. It is important to us that you are served the freshest and best tasting pizza possible!It is also our goal to be a model company to work for. It is a priority of ours to mentor young workers to grow in job skills so they can develop careers within the company or succeed in their chosen fields.We are excited for this new venture and look forward to serving you!
