Big Bone Lick State Park

This was a delightful campground. When we arrived the power and water were out, but they worked tirelessly to get it back on. We stayed right next to the playground and our kids played endlessly. On the grounds were a herd of bison that we made the short hike to. They also have a small museum in the visitor center that details the history of the Bone Lick. My kids learned a great deal. We did not make it to the salt springs, but know that is an option. Camp was clean and pleasant.

Perfect first time ever Rpod camping experience. If you buy from Jeff Couch Nation highly recommend for first night.

There's some pretty good hiking in the park and it's not far from Rabbit Hash, Kentucky which is a really cool little town that's definitely worth a visit. Combined it makes a great day trip from Cincinnati.

This was a great place to take the family camping while going to the Ark Encounter. I would give it 5 stars but be aware that the sites are not completely level. They are not bad just a challenge and not a full hook up. Loved the amount of things to do from swimming, miniature gulf and hiking.

Great spot to hike and it's a stone's throw from Cincinnati. Great road-trip stop if you need to stretch your legs!

Lots of trails, a museum, bison, easy to see a lot in a small amount of time. Great spot if you need a short break on a road trip.

Some great rugged hiking trails for an afternoon stroll can be found here. There are also buffalo here! They are in a fenced area but you can still get pretty close to them.

Awesome hike around the river to see the salt spring and licks, then on to the mastodon trail to see the Bison grazing, and finally up and over the mountain on Gobblers Trace for a total of 3.6 miles. Really pretty park, easy trails to navigate. Loved the recreation of the Willy Mammoth in the tar pit. If you’re a history buff and love to hike, this place is fantastic!
