Tamworth Distilling and Mercantile (15 Cleveland Hill Rd, Tamworth, NH) It’s tough to beat a distillery that sources its ingredients from the nature around it. We’re talking local, house-milled grain, pure water, herbs and botanicals from the woods, and local fruits and vegetables. This modern distillery is housed on a historic property that’s as beautiful as its spirits are flavorful.

Polar Caves (705 Rumney Rte 25, Rumney, NH) — These caves were formed about fifty thousand years ago when a massive continental glacier rolled over New Hampshire’s White Mountains. There are nine granite caves for exploration on this property where you can get deep enough to touch ice in mid summer! Be sure to also check out the 45-foot glacial wall and sample famous fudge from Polar Caves’ shop.

Cruises and Boat Tours (various locations) — New Hampshire’s Lakes Region is made even more stunning by the mountainous views that encircle many of its lakes. A boat tour is one of the best ways to take in these stunning vistas. You can choose your own adventure too with boat trips ranging from pontoon tours to vintage boat rides to tiki boat tours and more.

Kellerhaus Inc (259 Endicott St N, Laconia, NH) What’s a road trip without candy and ice cream? Kellerhaus has been a Lakes Region staple since 1906 because of its down-home style and delicious confections. Kellerhaus, Inc., was founded with the goal to employ residents in the area to create ice cream to sell. Back in those times, ice was used from nearby Lake Winnipesaukee to make the cold confections. Stop in for a sweet treat or even a waffle breakfast.
