All spa guests receive complimentary access to the Grotto Mineral Pool, invigorating cool-splash waterfall, and whirlpool on the day of their treatments. The Grotto will set the mood for the rest of your spa experience. Derived from the Latin phrase, “sanitas per aqua,” the word “spa” is an acronym literally meaning “health through water.” Following this tradition of caring for the body and soul, soothe your senses in our 2,500 square foot warm water pool, designed to emulate the wonder of a naturally occurring grotto. The Grotto Mineral Pool is a warm water pool is infused with natural minerals and trace elements which detoxify the body and rejuvenate the spirit. In addition, the Mineral Pool area includes a two story waterfall, an invigorating glacial plunge cascade and a non-mineralized whirlpool. We suggest that you enjoy the mineral pool for 20 minutes, cooling down in our cool water fall and then relaxing poolside on a lounge chair or on our outdoor deck. After a few minutes of rest, guests may wish to use the whirlpool which does not contain minerals and may then repeat the entire process, up to 3 times in a 24 hour period. Pure water is provided poolside and we encourage our guests to remain well hydrated while using the Mineral Pool. The Grotto Spa at Tigh-Na-Mara recommends it is most beneficial to use the Mineral Pool prior to spa treatments.
