Little People Village

this used to be part of Quassy Amusement Park back in the 1920s. there used to be a mini train track that went thru it. the legend about this place isnt true however its still pretty creepy

was here on Saturday, July 27, 2019. It is not located on Umberfield Road... it IS located at the dead end of Old Waterbury Road in Middlebury, CT not Waterbury, CT...

This location does not have an address and is both very easy to get to and mildly difficult to access if you are driving there in a car. The closest place to park is Maggie McFly’s (a restaurant). To access the fairy village, find Old Waterbury Road. At the end of this road is an old access road that is now more of an overgrown trail. You cannot drive down the access road, and there are signs saying you cannot park on Old Waterbury Road or risk being towed. They don’t want people parking there to walk to the village.

While not restricted or illegal, the town doesn’t make it easy to access the area because they are worried about vandalism and misuse. You will need to walk along the service road until you see giant power lines and the highway in front of you. Once you pass under the giant power lines keep to the right going into the woods down a well-walked trail. Depending on the time of year the path is usually pretty visible. Go towards the crumbling main large human-sized hut. On the other side, you will find the cliff throne and some of the best-preserved fairy houses. There are several houses in various states of crumbling ruin scattered throughout the forest, but be careful if you stray from the trails; there is a lot of poison ivy.

Really weird little place worthy of a stop by people looking to poke around an old mystery site. The directions are a little wonky, so if you visit, head to Old Waterbury Road and find a parking spot just at the end of the street. You shouldn't have any trouble parking there, there's no traffic or anything. If you find the power lines, follow the road until you get the new condo building, and you should find the pathway to the village just to the left.

Little People Village is worth checking out if you happen to be nearby. When I visited the site yesterday, there seemed to only be one enact "little house" and one foundation of the larger house. It's a shame that so much of it has been destroyed when compared to the photos from 5 or so years ago. Definitely follow the directions from the other user comments, don't try to go directly to the address listed.

A neat little place. Took the other direction suggestions to park at the end of Waterbury, go through the gate, walk down the trail till in dead ends below the apartment buildings, and then head into the woods on your left. Only one tiny house that is really visible, and then two larger house structures on either side of the tiny house. Worth the little walk in the woods to see, but be careful of the poison ivy. I wouldn't suggest wearing flip flops like I did.

I visited today and it took us quite awhile to find it, but this is because we were in the totally wrong area. Just navigate to Old Waterbury Road, and park at the end of the street (it's short). Just past the little "gate" follow the road under the power lines and it's right in the woods on the left, just down the hill from a new condo building.

A little tricky to find. I parked just past where the GPS will tell you where it is, a small road that kinda dead ends, but you can see where it continues. Apparently this doesn't lead to it, as the website linked to it suggests another spot to check out.
Anyway, storms were rolling in, and I was losing light so I didn't find it, but hope to go back again with more appropriate footwear and more light.
