From the plane's illustrious history (flying for South Africa Air and Avianca Airlines) to its present-day, tricked out ammenities, it's definitely one of the world's most badass hotel rooms. Plus, it totally looks like something straight out of Lost. Of course, even though it's made from a salvaged airplane fuselage, the interior looks quite different than it did during its past life. Now, it's got an all-wood interior, two bedrooms with private baths, a kitchenette, a foyer, a spiral staircase, and a balcony with a sweet ocean view. Oh, and air conditioning! Adding to the effect is the fact that it's been placed in the treetops of the Costa Rican jungle. So as you relax on the balcony, you'll be able to spot monkeys, sloths, toucans, and more. If you want to keep with the airplane theme on your visit to Costa Verde, then definitely make sure to enjoy a meal at El Avión. Of course, a Boeing 727 fuselage isn't big enough to hold a restaurant, so the resort brought in a slightly bigger craft: a Fairchild C-123 cargo plane, the twin sister of the Fairchild plane shot down over Nicarauga that triggered the Iran-Contra affair. Costa Verde's was abandoned at an airfield in San José before it was purchased and shipped to the resort in 2000. Now, you can dine beneath its wings or enjoy a drink at the pub located inside-- thankfully, they offer more than tiny plastic bottles of overpriced liquor and little bags of peanuts. -Roadtrippers Offering an outdoor swimming pool, Costa Verde Inn offers free American breakfast and free Wi-Fi in all areas.
