“a diverse habitat”

A 375 acre lake is popular with boaters and skiers, and fishing for bass, crappie, catfish and bream is excellent. Paddlers can rent canoes and kayaks to explore this beautiful lake lined with fragrant water lilies and tupelo trees. Guided pontoon boat tours are sometimes offered during events. The beachside pavilion, picnic shelters and group shelters are scenic spots for parties, reunions and other celebrations. Reed Bingham is less than six miles from I-75, making it a relaxing stop for travelers. It was named for Amos Reed Bingham who was instrumental in having the park established. Visitors to this pretty park usually see abundant wildlife, including species such as gopher tortoises, yellow bellied sliders and indigo snakes. Nesting bald eagles are often seen in winter. American alligators are often seen sunning along the lake’s edge. During winter, thousands of “buzzards,” actually black vultures and turkey vultures, roost in the trees and soar overhead. Nearly 80 percent of the Coastal Plain’s plant community can be found along the park’s Coastal Plain Nature Trail, making this park’s habitat some of the most diverse in the country.

Really just a stopover on my way south but it was enjoyable. Most of the sites were pretty level and there are pull-thrus. There is also a lake for fishing, not sure if you can swim in there probably not because you are getting into alligator country. There are a couple of easy trails near the campground. I didn't spend enough time there to provide any sightseeing if there is any.

Our rig: 38' 5th wheel, Chevy 3500 Crew cab w/8' bed
Date stayed: April 2015
Location: Adel, Ga

We stopped at Reed Bingham for a few nights heading north out of Florida. It was an easy drive from the highway, far enough away that you will get no traffic noise. Check in was easy and we had a premium site that was full hookup. You select your site when you arrive, so be aware if you are coming in on a weekend, it can be very busy. Our site was a nice pull thru, facing the woods. There are lots of trees around, but it doesn't really equate to a lot of privacy between spots.

The roads were nice and the sites are gravel and fairly level with lots of room between sites and for slide outs. We didn't use the comfort stations, but I looked and they were very clean. Firewood is available at the park, there is a separate building near the loops that sells firewood and mini golf tickets.

The park itself is fairly large, situated on a lake, and has several places for picnics and gatherings. On the opposite side of the lake from the campground is a swimming area and further up from there you can rent canoes and kayaks. The weather wasn't great when we were there, so we didn't make it onto the water. There are several hiking trails and geocaching is encouraged throughout all of the Georgia state parks and there were quite a few here.

There is a restaurant right at the park entrance and it is good. There are only a few restaurants in Adel and they have two grocery stores, the Piggly Wiggly has a well stocked Ace Hardware in it. I can also recommend The bistro at Horse Creek Winery.

Overall, it's a convenient stop for a night and a nice park to spend several nights.

This was a really nice park. I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that the trails were all multi use so you could mountain bike on them. There are a lot of trails here and it's very scenic. The only negatives are the location and cost. The location was really out in the middle of nowhere. There's not much to do nearby at all. I drove into both Moultrie and Valdosta. Out of the 2, Valdosta was much better. Don't even waste your time with Moultrie. Valdosta has some shops, restaurants etc.

The cost at $38 is a little high for a state park but that was full hookup 50amp. Good cell reception. 3 bars on both ATT and Verizon with no booster.

Site accessibility (extremely easy to navigate and park) - 5
Campground location (Really nothing to do here outside of the park. There's a Walmart) - 2
Nearby amenities (Walmart, Piggy Wiggly but not much else) - 3
Site Privacy (this was a pretty wide open campground but there were some edge spots with decent privacy. Also the spacing was good) - 3
Campground amenities (Cleanest bathroom/showers I have seen in a campground so far. Miniature golf, Bike rentals, kayak/canoe rentals, laundry, easy to access trash receptacles, cable hookup at site) - 5
Dog friendly (Dogs allowed on all trails) - 5
Activities (good hiking, mountain biking, boating) - 4
Cost ($38/night for being out in the middle of nowhere is a bit high - 2
Staff friendliness (lady at the gift shop completely ignored me and was pretty rude. The rest of the staff was very friendly) - 3.5
Connectivity (Strong AT&T and Verizon signal) - 5
Total rating = 4.05

We stopped here after having purchased our bus in Atlanta earlier in the day. After driving a 40 foot diesel pusher for the first time I could have relaxed about anywhere but this place sure did the trick. The campground is fairly open and very spacious with old growth shade trees over most of the sites. The sites are fairly spread out but without much in the way of growth to provide privacy. We spent most of our time here relaxing and beginning to acquaint ourselves with our new home so didn't get around to exploring much. The shower house nearest our site was newer construction and kept very nicely.

Reid Bingham State Park in Georgia is about 7 miles off of Interstate 77. It offers a lovely oasis for the road weary traveler. After viewing endless billboards along the road, just traveling the back roads to this campground gave you a better feel for the countryside.

This is a small state park and appears to be popular on the weekends for local folks to spend the day at the beach and playground. There are about 30 campsite spread out under a canopy of trees. They have a gravel pad and there are several sites that are pull through. The lake is small, but the river that feeds it goes for several miles, so if you have time you can explore more of the park by canoe.

Arriving on a Sunday gave us plenty of wonderful sites to choose from. The layout of the campground was very RV friendly and we had no problems getting in and pulling out. They do have a section of the campground with full hooks and sites that can be reserved. There really isn't a difference in the two sections accept the fullhook up side has a newer bathhouse. We enjoyed all their trails and discovering a few of the geocaches hidden in the woods. The staff were very friendly. We love how most Georgia State parks offer cable to their guests as well as provide unique things like a putput golf coarse.

Second time staying here. Both times in Loop 1. They allow you to just pick a spot. Not sure if this is always or when not busy. I do wish they would get rid of the bright lights though.

When we looked on recreation.gov it said there was a two nite minimum - since we only wanted to stay one night we called and booked one night without the booking fee.

This park is about 7 miles off I-75 and we stayed there near the end of December. They offer a senior discount. They have two loops - one older with only water and electric but nice sites with good privacy. Bathroom in the old side is dated but was clean and adequate. The other loop has full hookups and a new bath facility. Either loop is good.

The park has fishing on a small lake fed by Little River, plenty of flat paved walk-in and biking. We just spent one night enroute but commented we could have enjoyed a few days there.

Summer warning! - it gets hot and muggy and gnats are a nuisance in the summer months
