Nido is Spanish for a “nest or abode”. An adobe is a sun-dried mud brick, which is what our home is made of, hence the name - Adobe Nido. Our original nido (built in 1985) and our new nidos, are all created in the old style architecture of the southwest - adobe construction with kiva fireplaces, exposed adobe bricks, exposed beams, banco seats, and flagstone walkways. Our main house is the hub of activity containing main lobby, dining hall, kitchen as well as our quarters. The 2-story guest house next door is just a short walk from the dining area, (really short...five or six paces). It houses two beautiful guest rooms, and the apartment size family suite. Out back, you may relax under a covered outdoor patio next to the waterfall. Our grounds include raised bed vegetable and herb gardens, flagstone paths, southwest xeriscape, outdoor patio and porches, 2 sounding ponds, a fish pond with waterfall, an apiary and an outdoor Finnish dry heat sauna.
