“the story of the Atomic Age”
The National Museum of Nuclear Science & History, located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, is the nation’s only congressionally chartered museum in its field and an intriguing place to learn the story of the Atomic Age, from early research of nuclear development through today’s peaceful uses of nuclear technology.
We are members of a reciprocal museum and so we got in for free! This was a wonderful museum, which has a FABULOUS airplane collection. One of the guides that was there kept my high-school age kids asking questions. I sat down and tried to watch a documentary about the nuclear meltdown cover-up, but I never got to the end... so we are going to have to go back, so I can watch the rest! Very Interesting!!! Staff was very nice!
This was a nice stop and a nicely done museum. I have a hat and tshirt from this museum that I wear all the time...definitely a must do for science nerds!
The address listed on this site for the nuclear Museum is wrong. This museum is on Eubanks - just FYI
Man o man was there a lot to see. They even had replica of the Gadget aka the first atomic bomb.
This museum is fantastic. Prices are reasonable and hours open are reasonable as well. The staff is helpful. We had a private tour and the gentlemen was retired Air Force. He had so much information that he shared about Nuclear plants, energy and usage. There were several exhibits as well as planes.
It was fantastic. We went here with a 15 and 10 year old and had a great time. You definitely want to spend an entire day to do this museum,
If in the area we will definitely go back.
Plan on spending at least a few hours here, you'll learn everything you ever knew you never wanted to know about the benefits of nuclear energy as well as its potential devastating effects. However, be aware that most of the exhibits here are not authentic artifacts, but rather reproductions.
The museum also shows several films on the history of nuclear science.
