“Meet Aliens, Bigfoot, and your Dead Grandmother in one spot!”
In the hills of lower New York State lies a patch of game lands whispered about by locals for years. Purportedly home to a “migratory pod” of Sasquatch, the hill has also been home to UFO sightings, wandering ghosts, and other strange phenomena that have lent credence to the land’s nickname: The Alpine Portal. Originally home to thriving Native American culture, the indigenous people of Connecticut Hill were driven out of the area by George Washington’s troops in the 1700′s. When the new locals began to realize that the hill’s climate made for terrible farming, the land was subsequently abandoned, and has since been turned into a state wildlife management area. But according to locals (and paranormal investigators), the wildlife on Connecticut Hill is a bit wilder than usual. According to area Bigfoot researchers, this particular section of Alpine, NY is home to what they believe is a “migratory pod” of Sasquatch, who use the area for shelter during the winter months before moving south for the winter. They’ve backed up their claims with convincing photos, videos, and plaster casts of giant footprints taken from the hill, as well as recordings of purported Sasquatch vocalizations. Furthering their research is a plethora of eyewitness accounts of everything from quick glimpses of the creature, to violent campsite attacks in the dead of night. In addition to the reports of big blurry beasts, the area is rife with UFO sightings, EMF field disturbances high enough to shut down vehicles, and even the occasional ghost wandering through the forgotten cemetery. The whole area is so strange, an entire documentary was made about The Alpine Portal and it's local "bigfoot pod, a film that claims to have captured actual evidence of the hairy creature. You can watch the documentary online here.
Camped there for past 20 some years, many many times. Place is magical, about 30 minutes into setting up camp, I was mysterically intoxicated. Whatever it was always left me with a headache. Guess I'll never know.
The Alpine Portal. This place can bring you the chills if you take in mind all the stories behind it.
This place makes you feel it is a sanctuary of strange activities.
If you are more open minded and don't care about all these stories then you can enjoy a walk into the beautiful woods and become one with the natural surroundings.
Love! perfectly spooky, you loose reception so definitely adds to the vibe. On a paranormal level I got a headache and the air felt thick and as soon as I left it went away.
I've lived in alpine most of my life! & I've spent nights up there & I've seen, & heard things I don't wanna remember.. though I've never seen tracks from big foot, I have seen paranormal activity! I've seen witches from trees, & the most terrifying screams you'd think someone was getting murdered.. I remember one night my brother & I spent the night up there & we get woken up by this terrifying scream & as soon as we try to get out all the doors locked & the scream got louder but of course we always went back lol, that stuff interested us very much! Now I've seen things on that hill I can't even put on here... but they also have a shadow man, hes been reported many times! I was walking in the woods one time it was probably mid January & I see these tracks so I go & follow em & all of a sudden the tracks just vanished.. there was no wind blowing, it wasn't snowing but it had snowed earlier that morning! I can't explain that at all, but yes I believe Alpine is one of the best places to visit when looking for paranormal activity
The cemetery up there is haunted. I was up there at nightfall and distinctly heard the sobbing of a woman among the gravestones. I repeatedly walked towards where it seemed to be coming from, only for it to resume behind me. I got scared and hightailed it out of there.
I can confirm the weirdness on Connecticut Hill. My car's instrument panel went haywire when I drove up there. Problem resolved as soon as I came off the hill. Also, a bigfoot believer demonstrated to me that the squatch communicate by knocking on hollow logs. He made three loud knocks on a log at the top of the hill. After a few seconds we heard three knocks in the distance.
I would dispute a Portal on the hill. I have seen no verification or any facts backing up this claim. I intend to investigate over the solstice , I will let you know.
Qtopia G.
I grew up here and never once heard anything about Bigfoot or claims of ufo sightings!!! What a joke
People did not abandon their land due to poor farming. They were forced off their property by the state. My family included. We spend a lot of our free time up on Connecticut hill, and I will say there is an eeriness about it, but there is so much of our family history there that I love to be there.
I would love to get a group of people together and spend a night or two I Connecticut hill.
