“historical farm equipment and more”
This unusual collection is housed in one of South Amana's oldest barns. Constructed c. 1860 to house oxen, the barn later sheltered horses. The huge beams, with their mortise and tenon construction, were hewn from native timber. The exhibit contains agricultural implements used on Amana's communal farms. Artifacts include equipment for planting, plowing and harvesting; haymaking equipment; road graders; tools and equipment for livestock management. Historical photographs and text describe communal farming in Amana.
