The land on which Kerrytown stands was part of the original village of Ann Arbor. Three historic buildings, the oldest built in 1874, were once the site of the working man's trades - lumber, warehousing, feed and grain. Horsedrawn loads of lumber left the Luick Bros. yard to become Ann Arbor homes. These historic structures came alive once more as a unique setting for a variety of shops, markets and restaurants. Special care has been taken in preserving the timeless appeal of brick and exposed beams. Several renovations and additions, including a three-story glass elevator, enclosed walkways and most recently a tower of 17 European-crafted bells provide added convenience and entertainment for our customers. Play the charming melodies of the Kerrytown Chime - a seven-ton, world class musical instrument made up of 17 bells in a tower. Today Kerrytown is a lively marketplace blending the best of the old and new. Kerrytown is named after County Kerry, Ireland, ancestral home of the family of the developer of Kerrytown.
