“Homey without being homely”

I once read this quote by Amelia Earhart, “Adventure is worthwhile in itself.” How inspiring. What great justification when in doubt whether to leave your house or tired of the humdrum life. So I set out in search of adventure and the miraculous across the globe. I slept on our Mother Earth under a canopy of stars, or when the area provided a hostel, I would stay there. Both were great in their own way, as anyone can attest. But there was something I learned about myself on these travels. No matter how great the adventure, at some point I always longed for home. Ironically, as many have discovered, when you return home you may shortly find that a twitch has developed in your leg and you want to head right back out the door. Bon Paul & Sharky’s was built with this understanding. Here you will find a place to call home for a few days while relaxing, having fun, and interacting with other like- minded travelers – a break from your adventure, and yet still adventure in itself.

I stayed here back in February on a whim. I had randomly decided on a roadtrip to Asheville with no idea where to stay. Bon Paul's did not disappoint! It was such a warm and relaxing atmosphere. I felt right at home! If you're lucky enough your bunkmates will be adventurous and friendly people. Mine showed me the town and I saw places in Asheville, that as a normal tourist, I probably wouldn't have seen. The hot tub and communal dining room were my favorite. Only con was parking was a bit difficult to find sometimes. Could not recommend this place enough and plan on going back soon.

I stayed here for two nights around New Years. Beautiful location in West Asheville, so much within a short walk. My only complaint is that I ended up getting locked out of the ladies dorm. Had to knock for too long until someone fijnally woke up and let me in. Very not cool. I would have preferred a key or a code lock than waking up my bunk mates, but if you're not planning staying out super late like me, then you are probably fine. I highly recommend it.
