We saw a Scamp and a couple of travel trailers. There are a few big trailers permanently camped. Both times we have stayed here, we used electric with our VW Westphalia in 2011 and 10/24/16 with our Sprinter Van. The bathroom is Ok. The whole place is funky but good. We could not get a campsite anywhere in Asheville on the spur of the moment. The night we went was a Monday & they said the were booked full every weekend. I usually pick up clay supplies right down the road, so this is very convenient.
This is in the mountains, so when you go in, the drive is right off a big bend. Then you go down a steep hill with a sharp left. John is a great trailer puller, he'd be more likely to pull our 19' Airstream Bambi into this campground, not our 24' AS Trade Wind.

We really like this little campground. It's about 9 minutes from Asheville and 4 from Weaverville (which is a lovely little town -- check it out!) Sites 1-3 are pretty tiny -- good for short pull behinds, vintage Shastas, etc. Sites 4-11 are full sized / full hookups. The sites are right on the French Broad River. We've seen 15 geese float by, three resident ducks, and two Great Blue Herons. Some of the river-front sites have a little beachy area. Sites are cement slab, with fire rings, and picnic tables. We ended up with an older picnic table in poor condition but there were newer ones on other sites. There is one bath house with two stalls and one shower. The shower needs a good scrubbing. There are stationary RVs and cabins with FT residence on site. Really, the river is the thing! Either main road to the campground is narrow, twisty, and hilly. We have a 29' motorhome with a toad. We unhooked and had no trouble driving down into the site. There is a train that rolls through on the other side of the river but I didn't notice it except during the day. There is internet but it is very unreliable and Verison is iffy.

My main purpose in writing this review is to validate the continuing applicability and accuracy of the two excellent reviews previously posted here in recent years for this campground.
Our site on the water is full service and fantastic.. what beats looking out the rear dinette window and seeing a river going by? Phone service for AT&T was serviceable. They have a weak but present Wi-Fi. The owners are very nice. Good access to Asheville. The train on the opposite bank was infrequent and cool!
On the negative side, the sole bathroom is small and not as clean as one might like.
There are no laundry facilities, but a very clean and large laundromat (from where I write) is nearby in Weaverville. All sorts of stores are a short drive away.

Hi Campers and RVers! My partner and I stayed here for two nights (paid for three since it was a holiday weekend but had to leave a day early) and had an interesting experience. While the campground provided what we needed and came for (a safe place to park, fire pit, bathrooms, firewood for sale), we would not stay there again. A quick rundown:
*For $37/night, the bathrooms are a major bummer and extremely outdated. There are only two, very small/knees will hit the door, stalls each for men and women for the entire campground. I did not attempt the shower. This is not the campground's fault, but the people using the bathrooms certainly did not "leave it as they found it." A mess. Campers were also driving their whole families to the bathroom first thing in the morning and at night, which I found odd. It is not a big campground.
*BEAUTIFUL river view! So lovely to wake up to the geese and ducks in the water. You can stick your fold up chair in the water and let your feet soak, what a treat!!!!
*Fantastic proximity to town...it's just about a 15 minute ride. We took a Lyft in Friday night and it was only $13.
*The sites (both tent and RV) are super close to each other with no barrier in between them at all
*Our site was clear of any trash, but the fence around the little concrete deck was broken
*There are people living there full time in RVs and in cottages that are rented as apartments, which I thought was interesting and not mentioned on their website (maybe I missed it?)
*The staff at the front desk was less than warm and welcoming. Pretty much just asked for our credit card, pointed at our spot, and gave us a long list of campground rules.

I could not find any campsite pictures on their website. Upon arriving here I saw why. The tent sites are very small. I had to park my car sideways to have enough room for my tent and have enough room on front of the fire pit to sit. The picnic tables are the worst I have ever seen. The tent sites have not been improved to make them level. They could put railroad ties or peeler logs and fill the inside with something to level it and to keep you from not having to walk in mud tracking it in your tent.
There is a remote site but you would have to walk through a campsite to get to it and I did not see anywhere to park a vehicle . Just no room.
The bathrooms are very old. The sink is a wall sink with nowhere to put anything to fix your hair or brush your teeth. Very intimate in there. There is a deck at the office that has not seen a broom or blower for a long time.
Owners are not putting anything back into the campground for the guests. They say they have ice and firewood but they are not selling it because they do not want anyone in the store due to Covid19. Don't know why they cannot pass it through the window. Very inconvenient to find this out after you get there.
