“Enjoy the vast variety of our native plants”
The Botanical Gardens at Asheville is an independent non-profit organization housing a collection of plants native to the Southern Appalachian Mountains. The plant collection of the Botanical Gardens at Asheville is represented by over 600 species that are native to the Southern Appalachians. These include many species of trees, shrubs, wildflowers, vines, grasses and sedges. Habitats vary from the sunny and dry to the shaded and wet, allowing many suitable niches for a wide variety of plants. The Gardens is refuge to over 50 species that are considered uncommon, rare or endangered on a regional, state or federal level.
These gardens are massive. There is a nice little parking lot that you'll pull into and then you're off to explore the various trails.
We loved the gardens. We didn't even make it through 1/4 of what it had to offer. There is so much landscape to take in. Read the guide to figure out which trails (easy to moderately rated) are right for you. Make sure you pack water and wear appropriate attire (light clothes and shoes).
