“The outlaws of AGS welcome you!”
AGS began its days as the first electric feedmill known as the Great Lakes Feed Co-op. The old Agway building was built in 1913 and then was added on to in 1918. In the 1940's and 1950's, it was again added on to, thus becoming the building it is today. In 1991 high school friends Jackie Francis and Jim Cedarquist decided to start a corner store in their hometown of Ashville, NY. They decided to revitalize the Agway building and make it useful once again. The building had been empty for 1 1/2 years. With very little start up money and a whole lot of hard work, Jackie, Jim, Bill, Al, Stan, moms and dads and grammas all pulled together and got the store open! The store featured penny candy, groceries, antiques and a greenhouse. In 1993, Mark Roller and Jackie had a daughter, Coralynn. Mark and Jackie were married at the store, creating a nice family history for the store to build on. Coralynn is now 19 years old and is a second generation worker at AGS. Many of the original employees' children are also growing up and earning a trade here at AGS. Our restaurant and take-out business is renowned for our unusually named subs, all of which have a great story behind them. Ask - we will share the stories anytime! We are also known for our homemade bread and pizza doughs, as well as our chili and selection of homemade soups. We have developed a reputation for being the place to go to get something different - whether it be a bag of Dirty Chips, a huge sub fit for a king, a breakfast pizza that leaves your tummy wanting more and more, or a nice cold soda or beer - people know this is the place to be! AGS now has an art gallery and shoppe, located in the small building across the parking lot. The Greenwood Shoppe and Gallery features work from local artisans, giving them the opportunity to showcase their talents and share what they are capable of creating. AGS has always been a place where people can come and sit on the front porch, put their feet up for a bit and just relax as they enjoy our food and company. We are always here for our 'regular' customers and would love to invite new people ( you ) into our hometown family! Come, visit a while - you will fall in love with the atmosphere and friendly banter! Thanks for coming and you are always welcome!

Unique place with a unique menu. We were there at a very busy time. Lots of take out orders were being placed and picked up. We, however chose to dine in the store as we live about 30 minutes... Read more
I have supported store for many years and would normally give it 5 stars. But last two times the subs I ordered did not really have much in them. They may be cutting back but for the price I'm... Read more
