The Voodoo Room

TenTen Fest features a cross-section of five Portland punk and psych bands brought to town for simply the love of the VooDoo Room, but with perhaps a secondary goal of showcasing the newest sounds from a cast of players with deep roots in Pacific Northwest punk and Riot Grrl. Hurry Up is a new trio featuring Kathy Foster and Westin Glass of The Thermals, plus Maggie Vail on bass, a long time formative force behind the record label Kill Rockstars. Hooded Hags features Chris Sutton of Olympia-born legends Gossip and Hornet Leg, while Golden Hour represents a new spark of jangly punk sounds coming out of Portland. The night will start off with the gentler vibes of Black Belt Eagle Scout, the solo project of Katherine Paul of Genders, after which Sávila will bring the sounds of cumbia and psych with guitarist Fabi Reyna and singer Brisa Gonzalez formerly of Swan Island.  Perhaps the strongest thread through the night is the spirit of She Shreds Magazine, a publication founded and edited by Sávila guitarist Fabi Reyna herself, dedicated entirely female guitarists and bassists.
