Westside Park is a proposed park in the City of Atlanta to be located on the site of the former Bellwood Quarry, between Johnson Rd. and Donald Lee Hollowell Highway, and between Bankhead and West Midtown.The former quarry is slated to be turned into a lake for the future park. Often known as simply "The Quarry", it is often a hang-out spot for local teens. The site was used as a location for filming of the AMC series 'The Walking Dead' in summer 2010. It was also used as a filming location in season 4 episode 14 of The Vampire Diaries.
This is the land that these people stole from my parents and grandparents. What happened to the proposed highway in that area? You folks lied and stole land from a self supporting community. We would love to have our land back in the area called Rockdale Park. What a major land grab back in the early 1960's.
There’s nothing there anymore, at least what it used to look like. It was under construction when we drove by so not sure when it’s gonna open again.
