“Home of the Minnesota Iceman!”

Take a guided tour and watch a live show! Shrunken heads, mermaids, and more!  The Museum of the Weird takes seriously the, "Keep Austin Weird," mantra as pretty much every corner of this place has something strange in it.

Perhaps the most interesting display at the Museum of the Weird is the newly acquired body of the Minnesota Iceman, a legendary frozen "Bigfoot" that once toured the country in a frozen truck... only to disappear without a trace. It was displayed at shopping malls, state fairs, and carnivals in the United States and Canada in the 1960s and early 1970s and promoted as the "missing link" between man and Neanderthals.

Almost half a century later, the frozen body was discovered in a storage container and auctioned off on eBay of all places, and the proprietors of Austin's Museum of the Weird were the highest bidder.

Now, people can once again witness the shocking Minnesota Iceman for themselves. It's weird, so just come on down!

The museum is small but neat. What it really makes it worth the visit is the guides sideshow performance!

We had such a good time, everyone was super friendly, and the stories were fun too. Would definitely go back.

Staff were super friendly. Guide was a sideshow performer and did a brief routine during the tour. Museum is small but it was worth the trip. You've never seen anything like it!

Small, but it was neat. Wouldn't want to be here if it was crowded, not much moving room. Bought a ticket that also included the wax. The wax museum was further away than we expected, thought it would be a short walking distance away.

I was pretty disappointed. It is very small barely three rooms. Everything was very fake and hoakey. I was only there for about 20 minutes. Admission was 12$ I would've done it for 5$.

It's a great place. Everyone was so friendly. We'll go again if we're in the area.

If you like oddities and side shows, you'll enjoy this place. The majority can be seen elsewhere although they have a few unique items.

Wasn't too bad. Me and my husband seemed to enjoy it a lot more than my 14 y/o cousin. Truthfully, though, I enjoyed the shop most. The performance was pretty fun too. Definitely worth it if you're out and about during the day and need something to do but I wouldn't come here expecting it to be a big part of your trip to Austin.

I don't know why this app says it's free - it costs 15$. It's okay but really not worth the price.
