“They bring the ranch to you”
The concept is pretty simple. Since we can't have everyone down to the ranch, we wanted to do our best to bring the ranch to them. We like to sit outside. We like to drink beer... and margaritas. We like to eat good food. We like relaxed atmospheres with friendly service and warm hospitality. So... that is what we strive to offer at Contigo Austin. We describe our fare as "Fresh, Quality, Bar Food." We make things that we like to eat. We make things that go well with beer. We make bar food utilizing the freshest ingredients we can find. We have been entertaining people at Contigo Ranch for over 30 years. It is the countless hunting trips, weekend retreats, cattle roundups, barbecues, parties, horseshoe and washers tournaments, and pachangas that serve as inspiration for this restaurant. Our goal is to offer the community a place to relax, commune, and enjoy great food.
I must say, the concept of Contigo is very fun and enjoyable. It looked like some kind of a ranch with a very relaxed environment. It's all outdoor "al fresco" seating gives it a nice chill vibe. My boyfriend and I went here for brunch. I have eaten rabbit meat before, but those doesn't even compare to Contigo's Rabbit and Dumplings. It's definitely one of the best that I have had. The meat was perfectly tender and the stew that came with it had a good kick of flavor in it. My boyfriend, on the other hand, ordered their beef tongue hash. He made me take a bite which was a hefty combination of rich and creamy eggs, hollandaise, fresh scallions, crispy potato and of course the salty beef tongue. It was heaven in my mouth! All these together is just perfect! The only major bummer is that it can get really warm here in some days. Aside from that, everything, including service, is definitely great!
This Texas ranch-inspired restaurant practically epitomizes Austin with its outdoor, communal seating and laid-back vibe. There's a focus on house made sausages, charcuterie and updated comfort foods. Think succulent rabbit and dumplings, served in a cast iron skillet and topped with biscuits seasoned to the hilt with sage.
