“Oldest lighthouse in NC”
110' feet tall, 108 steps, 5 landings, and ship's ladder to the top! Old Baldy was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. A Federal octagon lighthouse, it is North Carolina's oldest standing lighthouse, and was an active maritime navigational aid from 1818 to 1935.
Bald Head Island is a hidden gem in NC. Only accessible by ferry, they only allow golf carts on the island! Not overdeveloped, like some NC beaches have become. Old Baldy Lighthouse offers a great view of the entire island. I dream of having a house here one day!
